The communale oö invited SCHÄXPIR festival to Peuerbach! With its motto “magic – the story of stories” SCHÄXPIR will meet “Kosmos. Neue Welten” [EN: Cosmos. New Worlds] at the communale – an optimal combination as we see it!

In a small village surrounded by mountains, three generations of women grow up. They are all to big for their surroundings. Mia Oberländer’s graphic novel “ANNA” deals with social norms: situated somewhere between comedy, essay, and coming-of-age, she finds her very own style of images and words in order to tell a story about the conflicts between the individual and society, the passing on of trauma within families, and a look at the female body. A group of artists around Mia Oberländer took up the topics and themes from “ANNA” and bring them to Peuerbach. There they asked local women about their lives. In the former textile department store Schmidauer, Mia Oberländer and Julia Wazinski create an interactive exhibition that is simultaneously the venue for the performance “ANNA”. Floating between dance and theatre, the performance deals with growing up, growing out, and outgrowing yourself, before growing up.
