Am liebsten mag ich Monster

© David Baltzer

Inspired by Emil Ferris’ graphic novel.

Karen is ten years old and lives in Chicago in the 1960s. She flees from the banality of the world and the discrimination she experiences at school into a fascinating cosmos of horror comics. If things went her way, Karen would love to be a monster herself. A monster like in the scary movies that Karen watches holding hands and snuggled up closely together with her best friend Missy on a Saturday night. It would be so wonderful if everything were so exciting and so beautifully frightening. But one day Missy trades in all her monster comics for hair and make-up magazines. Karen’s neighbour Anka dies under mysterious circumstances, demons from the past begin to show up, and Karen tries to get to the bottom of all the secrets as a hobby detective in a trench-coat. When Karen’s mother then gets sick it becomes crucial to find a monster to bite everyone and make the whole family immortal!
